5 things you should leave behind when moving from New York to Florida
Moving from New York to Florida is a big step for anyone. Even though both states are great they are completely different. Before you do anything you need to research Florida a little bit. Of course, we can help you when it comes to packing by suggesting which things you should leave behind. You really don’t need anything and here are some examples.
#1 You won’t need winter clothes (and equipment)
Since many people are moving to Florida you need to research this state and obviously the weather there. You surely already know this is a state with a pretty hot climate. Winters will be completely different. So, your winter boots, warm jackets, hats, and scarves simply won’t be needed in your new place. Maybe you can find suitable storage for it unless you want to donate it or sell it?
#2 The same goes for the clothes
Now is a great time to go through your clothes. Get rid of everything that’s outdated and you no longer wear. If you need to store your winter clothes you can call Teddy Moving and Storage to help you out. Relocations are a great opportunity for new beginnings and getting new summer clothes can be just what the doctor ordered.
#3 Old furniture
In some cases, it will be more expensive to relocate furniture from New York to Florida than to buy new. If that is the case with your furniture – leave it behind. You can find furniture in Florida for a good price and after all, you are moving – it’s time for a fresh start. Of course, if you would rather bring your furniture with you make sure to prepare it well and call skilled people to simplify the task because there will be a lot of packing and heavy lifting.
Surely you need to bring all the important paperwork, records, and whatnot. Also, chances are you have a lot of paperwork that you no longer need. Now is a great time to declutter and get rid of all unnecessary documents, papers, and such. There is no need to bring useless things with you to a whole different state. If you are moving to Florida on short notice you can always do the decluttering once you arrive but if you have the time do it before.
#5 Dust collectors
We all have them in our homes. Those are the items we don’t need or even use. They just stand there useless. Now is the time to get rid of them. If you get rid of unnecessary items before moving from New York to Florida it will be much easier to pack and unpack which is always a plus.
